Arthur Nobuyuki Asahina is one of Japan’s biggest and most ardent music fans. He has had an independent jazz label in Japan for many years called VEGA RECORDS. Some of the great musicians who have appeared on his label include a variety of artists among others, Charles McPherson, Dena DeRose, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joe Cohn, Dayna Stephens, Branford Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval, Rufus Reid, Ray Drummond, Winard Harper Dominick Faranacci and Benny Green.

Vega releases have been releases strictly for the Japanese market. Many of them have been difficult to obtain outside of Japan. Now, selected VEGA RECORDS titles will eventually be available in the US under the label name, VEGAMUSIC.
The first such recording is a new title by San Francisco based reed instrumentalist, Noel Jewkes entitled “Chasin the Pres—A Tribute to Lester Young,” This recording features Benny Green on piano, Marcus Shelby on bass, Josh Workman on guitar and the former drummer for Count Basie, the great Harold Jones. This recording is available on CD Baby, iTunes, and Amazon in the CD format or as digital downloads.
